ARTIST PROFILE
Patrice Borst is a Boston-based pianist and composer whose debut album, Here and Gone, is a solo piano journey born out of a decade of profound personal experience accompanying her husband through Alzheimer’s.
Patrice is a spiritual counselor, writer, former minister and hospice chaplain. She began her professional career as a management consultant and project manager in financial services, until she followed the call to ministry.
Since the moment she first touched the keys of the green upright piano in her parents’ basement, Patrice wanted to be a musician. She aspired to be a classical pianist, taking lessons from an early age. While attending Oberlin College, Patrice studied piano with Frances Walker, Professor of Piano, at the renowned Oberlin Conservatory of Music.
A skilled collaborative pianist, Patrice has accompanied amateur musical theater productions in the Boston area, including Godspell with Theatre at Old South Church in Boston and the musical, Company for Brookline Community Theatre.
In 2008, Patrice heard another call: to find her own musical voice. This led her to study with jazz pianist Kenny Werner, founder of The Effortless Mastery Institute at the Berklee College of Music. His online classes, taken from 2020-2024, formed the foundation for the emergence of her 2026 album, Here and Gone.

A CONTEMPLATIVE PIANO JOURNEY
The album is a collection of musical moments in time, reflecting the challenges, joys and sorrows of caring for her husband through memory loss and Alzheimer’s. A journey that began in 2013, and continues, at this writing, in 2026. The album is dedicated to Patrice’s husband.
The album was recorded, mixed, and mastered at CedarHouse Sound and Mastering by Gerry Putnam, veteran producer. For 46 years, CedarHouse has evolved to that rare New England recording studio that offers the full range of services and one of the finest Steinway pianos anywhere.
